Gandhinagar, Gujarat : Gandhinagar Range Police have busted a fake ghee factory in Chhatral GIDC in a major operation. During the police raid, a suspicious quantity of palm oil and chemicals worth Rs. 1.67 crore was seized from a factory named ‘Happy Oil Industry’.

Investigation has revealed that the product was prepared in this factory by mixing dangerous chemicals like ‘RM Enhancer’ and ‘BT Negative’ in palm oil. About 30 thousand liters of this fake product was supplied to various trading companies. After that, some traders used to put their own brand label on this product and sell it in the market as genuine “desi ghee”.

A case has been registered against the factory manager Janakkumar Bhavsar at Kalol Taluka Police Station in this regard. It is noteworthy that the same type of adulteration case has been registered against the accused Janakkumar in the year 2024, yet he was again running this illegal black business.

According to experts, consuming such chemically-contaminated and adulterated ghee causes serious harm to the human body. It poses a huge risk of fatal diseases like heart disease, increased cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, teams from the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) and the Food and Drugs Department have reached the spot and taken suspicious samples and sent them to the lab for further investigation. Gandhinagar Range Police is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the supply chain of this entire fake ghee business and the role of other traders involved in it.
