New topic of discussion in state politics, discontent with regional leadership

Ahmedabad, Gujarat : The discontent that has been going on inside the Gujarat Congress for some time now is being seen openly. The questions raised regarding the new appointments of the organization, the working style of the regional leadership and the decision-making process have now crossed the state border and reached the Congress high command directly. It is being discussed in political circles that the district presidents of North Gujarat, some current and former MLAs and Banaskantha MP Geniben Thakor met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi and expressed their displeasure.

For the last few months, voices of discontent were being heard in the Gujarat Congress regarding the reorganization of the organization and the appointments of office bearers at the district level. However, till now this dissatisfaction was limited to internal meetings and discussions. Now for the first time, the entire matter has taken a new turn as the leaders of North Gujarat have reached Delhi directly and presented themselves before the high command. According to sources, Congress presidents of Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Gandhinagar districts attended this meeting. Some current and former MLAs were also present with them. This meeting is believed to have been held not only for formality but for serious discussions regarding the future of the organization.

The presence of Banaskantha MP Geniben Thakor in this meeting is considered particularly significant. The presence of Geniben, who is known as the strong face of Congress in North Gujarat, indicates that this is not just the displeasure of a few workers, but important leaders of the organization are also believed to be dissatisfied with the current situation. Political analysts believe that the political energy that Congress got in North Gujarat after the Lok Sabha elections was expected to be further strengthened organizationally. But internal differences have posed a challenge for the party.

According to the information received, the disgruntled leaders have raised issues like lack of transparency in the appointments of the organization, not giving enough importance to local leaders at the district level and neglect of workers in decision-making before the high command. Many Congress workers believe that it is necessary to take the grassroots workers and local leadership into confidence to strengthen the organization. If their participation in the decision-making process is less, then there can be a direct impact on the effectiveness of the organization.

After the meeting with Kharge, information is coming out that these leaders will also discuss with Congress Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. It is also being said that time has been sought for a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. If these meetings are held, important decisions can be taken regarding the organization of the Gujarat Congress.

This is not the first time that differences have come to the fore regarding the organization in the Gujarat Congress. In the past too, dissatisfaction was expressed many times over the appointment of district presidents, allocation of regional level posts and lack of proper representation of local leaders. However, most of the time, such differences were resolved through internal discussions. This time, the situation is considered different because the leaders have chosen to go directly to Delhi and present their views to the high command.

In Gujarat, the Congress has been trying to strengthen its organization for the last several years. In such a situation, if internal differences persist for a long time, it can directly affect the morale of the workers and the party’s election preparations. On the other hand, if the high command listens to all the parties in time and takes a balanced decision, then there may be an opportunity to calm this dispute and reunite the organization.

At present, the entire political circle is eyeing the upcoming meetings to be held in Delhi. The decisions taken by the high command after the discussions with Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal, whether there are any changes in the regional leadership or reforms in the organizational structure, will largely depend on the future political direction of the Gujarat Congress. One thing is clear that the simmering discontent in the Gujarat Congress is no longer just a matter of internal discussions. This issue has now reached the national leadership and its political echoes can definitely be heard in Gujarat politics in the coming days.
