Bandipora, J&K : In a vibrant display of patriotism ahead of Independence Day, the Fisheries Department, Baramulla, in collaboration with the Sopore Administration, organised a Shikara Tiranga Rally on the waters of the iconic Wular Lake in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the fishermen community and volunteers from Sopore, Water and Zurmanz areas of Bandipora. Participants rowed beautifully decorated shikaras carrying the national Tricolour, creating a striking patriotic spectacle against the scenic backdrop of Wular Lake.
The boat rally was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Dr. S. A. Raina (JKAS), who joined the participants as they carried the Tricolour across the waters of the lake. A large number of people took part in the event, adding colour and enthusiasm to the ongoing Independence Day celebrations.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were ADC Sopore S. A. Raina (JKAS), Assistant Director Fisheries Showkat Ahmad, and officials and staff members of the Fisheries Department.
Officials said the rally was organised to promote national unity, patriotism and the spirit of freedom while also highlighting the cultural, traditional and ecological importance of Wular Lake. The event also provided an opportunity to involve the local fishing community in the Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking to the media, ADC Sopore S. A. Raina said the Shikara Tiranga Rally was organised as part of the Independence Day celebrations to spread the message of unity, patriotism and national pride. He said the occasion was also an opportunity to remember and pay tribute to those who made the supreme sacrifices for the freedom of the country.
The ADC further stressed the importance of carrying forward the values associated with Independence by addressing public concerns, strengthening community participation and serving the people with greater dedication.
The officials appreciated the Fisheries Department, Sopore Administration, fishermen community and volunteers for their active participation in making the rally a meaningful part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The waters of Wular Lake witnessed a colourful display of the national Tricolour as the shikaras moved across the lake, reflecting the spirit of patriotism and adding a unique local flavour to the celebrations ahead of August 15.
