Sopore, J & K : A joint search operation was conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Sopore in coordination with the 52 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF 177 Battalion and CRPF 179 Battalion in the Manzseer area of Sopore town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo as part of ongoing security measures in the area.

SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib confirmed the recovery, stating that the joint forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an abandoned house during the search operation.

According to officials, the house belonged to a Kashmiri Pandit family that had reportedly migrated from the area in 1990.

The recovered cache reportedly included one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 72 rounds of ammunition and four hand grenades.

Following the recovery, the arms and ammunition were taken into custody in accordance with established procedures. Authorities have initiated further investigation to ascertain the source and ownership of the recovered items and to determine the circumstances under which the cache was found inside the abandoned house.

Security agencies are expected to carry out further investigation as part of the ongoing security measures in the area.
