Chandigarh,Punjab : Asian Games gold medallist and Indian cricketer Nandini Sharma received a warm welcome from her family and friends upon her arrival at the international airport in Mohali on Thursday.

Nandini, the first woman cricketer from Chandigarh to win an Asian Games gold was greeted with garlands as her parents and friends gathered to celebrate her achievement.

Ever since I arrived in Chandigarh, my family has been treating me like a princess. I could see the pride in everyone’s eyes. I think this is just the beginning of my journey, she said.

The pacer has enjoyed a breakthrough 2026, winning the Asia Cup and Asian Games gold besides making her debut at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She credited senior players, including Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, and the support staff for helping her transition into the national team.

Nandini also impressed in the Women’s Premier League, taking 17 wickets in 10 matches for Delhi Capitals, including a five wicket haul and a hat trick.
