Raipur : A shocking and mysterious incident has sent shockwaves across Chhattisgarh after five members of the same family were found dead inside a locked house in Raipur’s Sanjay Nagar locality. The gruesome discovery has raised serious questions, with police investigating whether the deaths were the result of a mass suicide or a carefully planned murder-suicide.

The incident came to light in the Tikrapara police station area, near a mosque in Sanjay Nagar, where neighbours grew suspicious after the family’s house remained locked for an unusually long time. Despite repeated knocks and calls, no one responded from inside. Alarmed by the silence, locals entered the house and were horrified to find five bodies lying inside a room.

Police were immediately informed.Upon reaching the spot, officers recovered the bodies and sealed the house for a detailed forensic investigation. The deceased have been identified as Sajid Ali (50), his wife Rabia, their 19-year-old son Irshad Ali, and daughters Shahida (17) and Irshaba Begum (16).According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that all five family members may have died after consuming poison.

However, investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the head of the family may have allegedly poisoned the other four members before taking his own life. Authorities have stressed that the exact cause and sequence of events will only be confirmed after the post-mortem and forensic examination reports are received.

Police sources revealed that the family had been living in a rented house owned by Syed Zahir for nearly eight months. Neighbours said the family had not been seen since the previous evening, and the locked house had raised suspicions. Their concerns eventually led to the grim discovery that has left the entire locality in shock.

A forensic team has collected crucial evidence from the scene, including samples that may help determine the cause of death. Investigators are also examining the family’s financial condition, personal relationships, and any other possible factors that may have contributed to the tragedy. Electronic devices, documents, and other belongings are also being scrutinized as part of the investigation.

At present, no suicide note has been officially confirmed, and police have not reached any final conclusion. Both mass suicide and homicide remain under active investigation. Authorities say the mystery surrounding the deaths will only be resolved after scientific evidence, forensic findings, and post-mortem reports are thoroughly examined.
