New Delhi : The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday rescued 12 civilians including three children, three women and a baby, after they were stranded overnight due to flooding of the Indravati river in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
Responding swiftly to a distress call, an IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter was launched at first light to reach the flood-affected area and evacuate the stranded civilians to safety.
The rescue operation was carried out as part of the IAF’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts with the helicopter crew safely bringing all 12 civilians out of the flooded area.
The successful operation highlighted the IAF’s readiness to respond swiftly during natural disasters and provide assistance to civilians in distress.
The IAF said it remains committed to supporting civil authorities and protecting lives during emergencies, reaffirming its motto of being ready to serve the nation whenever called upon.
