J&K Terror Attack: Police Personnel Killed in Firing Near Lal Chowk

Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir : Terror struck Jammu & Kashmir once again on Wednesday as terrorists launched a sudden attack on a police patrol near Lal Chowk in Anantnag district, leaving a Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel martyred.

The attack, which took place at around 12:30 pm, has once again raised serious concerns over the security situation in the Kashmir Valley.According to officials, the police team was carrying out routine patrolling when terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the patrol vehicle. One police personnel sustained critical bullet injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

Despite the best efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.The attack triggered panic in the area, prompting security forces to swiftly cordon off Lal Chowk and surrounding localities. A massive cordon-and-search operation has since been launched to track down the attackers.

Additional police and security personnel have been deployed, while intensive searches are being carried out at suspected locations. Surveillance has also been stepped up to prevent the terrorists from escaping.
