New Delhi : The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sudarshini, the Indian Navy’s iconic sail training vessel, departed Boston, USA, on July 25, marking the successful conclusion of its participation in the prestigious SAIL 250 celebrations and the International Naval Review 250 as part of its ongoing Lokayan 26 voyage.
During its visit to the United States, INS Sudarshini proudly represented India on the global maritime stage, highlighting the country’s rich seafaring traditions, naval professionalism, and commitment to international maritime cooperation. The vessel served as a symbol of India’s enduring maritime legacy while fostering stronger ties with partner navies through a series of professional, diplomatic, and cultural engagements.
As part of the SAIL 250 celebrations, the ship visited Norfolk, Baltimore, New York, and Boston, where it welcomed senior dignitaries, members of the Indian diaspora, and naval delegations from around the world. The interactions provided an opportunity to showcase India’s maritime capabilities and reinforce shared values of cooperation, friendship, and mutual respect among seafaring nations.
The Indian Navy said the voyage reflects India’s growing role in promoting maritime diplomacy and strengthening international partnerships through goodwill missions. The participation of INS Sudarshini in SAIL 250 also underscored India’s commitment to preserving maritime traditions while enhancing collaboration in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
Following its successful engagements in the United States, INS Sudarshini has now set sail for Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Portugal, where it will continue the Lokayan 26 voyage, carrying forward India’s message of friendship, maritime excellence, and global cooperation. The vessel remains a proud ambassador of India’s naval heritage, sailing across oceans to deepen international engagement and strengthen people-to-people and naval ties worldwide.
