Ahmedabad, Gujarat : News emerging from a PG hostel in Ahmedabad has compelled the entire nation to rethink the safety of daughters. On Saturday night, the hostel’s security guard raped a female student who was walking on the terrace. To prevent her from resisting, the accused held a wire tightly around her neck. While the student remains in critical condition, the CCTV footage of the incident has left the police astonished. The footage shows the accused guard not only moving about casually but also striking a pose while looking at his reflection in the elevator mirror. However, his swagger was short-lived; the police arrested him following a brief encounter. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the confrontation, and new footage shows him pleading for mercy with folded hands.

The incident occurred on Saturday night. The victim had been living at the hostel for the past year and frequently visited the terrace for walks. When she went for a walk on Saturday night, the security guard followed her there. He first locked the terrace door, then attacked the student and strangled her. The accused raped the student; he kept a wire pressed against her throat, preventing her from screaming. Her condition deteriorated, and she is currently hospitalized.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police reviewed the CCTV footage to track the security guard’s movements. What they saw left them shocked. The elevator footage shows the accused entering the lift; immediately upon entry, he looks at his reflection, strikes a pose, and adjusts his hair 19 times. He doesn’t stop there; he is seen adjusting his face and mustache before moving on. Right in front of the elevator, there were stairs leading to the roof; he climbed them to reach the terrace, carried out the crime, and subsequently exited the hostel building.
Following the CCTV footage showing him using the elevator, climbing the stairs, and leaving the hostel after the incident, another video surfaced showing the accused lying injured in a hospital, pleading with the police for mercy with folded hands. The police had arrested the accused, Dharam Singh, near Hebatpur. During the arrest, he attempted to flee, prompting the police to shoot him in the leg; the final video captures this moment. In the video, the accused repeatedly begs the police for forgiveness, promising never to repeat the act. The police also revealed that Dharam Singh had started working there as a security guard just four days prior. He hails from the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh and has previously worked as a security guard for several companies in Ahmedabad.
