Opposition should listen calmly when Shah speaks : Rijiju

New Delhi : Home Minister Amit Shah will respond in the House on the issue of police action during the student protest in Delhi. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju gave information about this on Monday. Kiren Rijiju said that the opposition should listen calmly when Shah speaks.

This statement by the government has come at a time when opposition parties are continuously seeking answers from Shah on the issue of police action during the student protest and theft in the Ram temple.

Amidst the opposition uproar, four important bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha. These include the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Amendment Bill, 2026.

Apart from this, the Kerala (Change of Name) Bill, 2026 and the National Cooperative Development Corporation Amendment Bill, 2026 were also introduced. Later, the proceedings of both the houses were adjourned till 2 pm amid protests by opposition MPs.

The opposition MPs were demanding answers from the government on the police action during the student protest at Jantar Mantar and the theft at the Ram temple. The opposition MPs also held a protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament with posters.

The opposition MPs protested against the government in the Parliament premises on Monday. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other opposition MPs came with posters of ‘Amit Shah Jawab Do’ and raised slogans against Shah.

The opposition is demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament regarding the police action against the student protesters at Jantar Mantar. Priyanka said that the House will not be allowed to function until the Home Minister gives a statement in Parliament

The opposition’s uproar continued inside the House as well. Due to this, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon as soon as they started at 11 am. The Rajya Sabha proceedings could only last for half an hour amidst the uproar.

The proceedings of both the Houses resumed at 12 pm. However, due to the uproar, the proceedings of both the Houses were adjourned again till 2 pm.

Suspense on Women’s Reservation-Delimitation Bill

The last day of the monsoon session that started on July 20 is August 13. That is, only 4 days are left of the current session. There has been continuous uproar in both the Houses during the last 3 weeks.

Due to this, the suspense remains regarding the government’s strategy on Women’s Reservation, Delimitation and FCRA Amendment Bills. None of these bills have been included in the Lok Sabha’s Monday agenda.

The Women’s Reservation and Delimitation Amendment Bill failed to pass the Lok Sabha in April due to a lack of two-thirds majority. It proposed 33% reservation for women from 2029 and increasing the size of the House through re-designation of Lok Sabha seats.

The FCRA Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in March, but is yet to be debated and passed.
