Gujarat: Gira Waterfalls in Gujarat’s Dang district have come alive with a dramatic surge in water flow after relentless monsoon showers swept across the state, turning the popular tourist attraction into a spectacular sight.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into Gujarat, covering more parts of the state along with regions of Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and the north Arabian Sea.
South Gujarat witnessed extremely heavy rainfall, particularly in Valsad and Daman, while Saurashtra districts including Junagadh, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, and Porbandar also recorded intense downpours.
The heavy rains have significantly boosted the flow at Gira Waterfalls, drawing attention from visitors. However, authorities have advised tourists to stay away from the edges of waterfalls and riverbanks due to strong currents and rising water levels.
The IMD has predicted more rain over the next 48 hours, prompting officials to remain on alert for possible waterlogging and flash floods.
Meanwhile, reservoirs and dams across Gujarat continue to receive healthy inflows, offering much-needed relief to the state’s farming community after a delayed start to the monsoon.
