New Delhi : Relentless monsoon showers wreaked havoc across parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, causing widespread waterlogging, rising river levels, and triggering emergency rescue operations.
In Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district, heavy overnight rainfall inundated several low-lying areas, leaving roads submerged and disrupting daily life. In the Bhoiwada locality, residents were seen struggling to recover vehicles swept away by floodwaters as streets turned into streams.
In neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, continuous rainfall caused rivers and streams in Balaghat district to swell dangerously. Sixteen villagers from Bhanpur village became stranded after floodwaters cut off their return route from agricultural fields.
Acting swiftly, teams from the local police, SDRF, and Hawk Force launched a coordinated rescue operation under challenging conditions. Despite strong currents, all 16 villagers were safely evacuated and escorted back to their homes.
Authorities have urged people to avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges, and overflowing rivers during the monsoon, advising residents to contact emergency services immediately in case of danger.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, and the north Arabian Sea, with more rainfall expected in the coming days.
