Envoy says discussions centred on strengthening economic relations and identifying mutually beneficial opportunities
Srinagar, J & K : US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Wednesday called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, with the two sides holding discussions on strengthening economic cooperation and exploring avenues that could benefit both nations.
Following the meeting, Gor took to X and said he was pleased to meet the Chief Minister and gain an understanding of his priorities.
“We discussed ways to deepen economic collaboration and create opportunities that would mutually benefit both of our nations,” the US envoy said.
The meeting took place during Gor’s ongoing visit to Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had earlier described the visit as one of the first by a US Ambassador to Jammu and Kashmir in a considerable period.
Ahead of the meeting, Abdullah had said he intended to interact with the envoy and listen to his perspective, while maintaining that matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir would ultimately have to be addressed within the country.
The discussions primarily revolved around economic cooperation and potential areas of partnership, with both sides sharing views on prospects for collaboration aimed at creating mutual benefits.
