Major Changes in State Structure, Strategist Sunil Kanugolu Given Command
Ahmedabad, Gujarat : A new ‘blueprint’ has been prepared in Delhi to revive Gujarat Congress in view of the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat. The Congress high command has already started advance planning and under ‘Mission Gujarat’ the party has completely entered election mode. In particular, Sunil Kanugolu, the mastermind and renowned election strategist who gave Congress a grand victory in Karnataka and Telangana, has now been given the important responsibility of Gujarat Congress.
With his entry, new life has been breathed into the party and preparations for major changes in the organizational structure of the state have begun. As part of making a strong hold in the elections, the entire state structure will soon be given a new look. Apart from this, a strategy has also been devised to activate 50 potential candidates at the ground level by giving them a specific ‘roadmap’.
With the aim of winning the elections, the high command is going to give a new shape to the structure of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress. According to sources, major changes can be seen in the organization by the end of this August. New and active faces will be appointed from the working president to the presidents of various fronts. Only office-holding and inactive leaders will be dropped, and sincere workers loyal to the party and connected to the ground will be given a chance in the organization.
This time, the Congress does not want to repeat its old mistake of distributing tickets at the last minute. According to indications from Delhi, 50 capable and potential candidates of the party, who are strong based on their performance in the 2017 and 2022 elections, will be given private instructions to start election-related preparations from now on. These candidates will be given a specific roadmap for victory, based on which they will have to prepare. The high command will keep a close watch on the performance of all these candidates.
On the other hand, despite the passage of three months, the Congress has not yet been able to decide the leader of the opposition in the municipal corporations including Ahmedabad due to internal tensions. However, the name of the leader of the opposition in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is likely to be finalized this month. Nirav Bakshi’s name is almost certain to be the leader of the opposition in Ahmedabad. Since the Congress MLAs from Ahmedabad city also have the same opinion, now only the formality of the official announcement is left.
