“Rahul Gandhi is engaging in the politics of anarchy”—BJP slams the sit-in at the Sansad Marg police station

New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the DCP in Delhi today to demand action against the police personnel who used a pellet gun. When the FIR was not registered, Rahul Gandhi began a sit-in right outside the DCP’s office. As a precautionary measure, the police have set up barricades and blocked the entry of vehicles moving from Connaught Place towards the Sansad Marg police station.

Rahul Gandhi remains adamant about getting the FIR registered. He stated, “I will remain seated at the police station until an FIR is registered regarding the pellet gun incident.” Meanwhile, the protest by Congress workers at the station continues.

Highlighting the gravity of the incident, Rahul Gandhi noted that the pellet gun was used on July 20, and according to an AIIMS report, the victim has over 200 pellets lodged in his body. Three of these pellets struck his eye, causing him to lose his vision, while the pellets located near his heart are too dangerous to even touch.

Rahul Gandhi argued that since the Delhi Police denies firing the pellet gun, it is evident that a crime has been committed and someone is responsible for it.

He alleged that police officials told him they could not register an FIR due to orders from higher authorities. He remarked that securing justice seems impossible under the current functioning of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Delhi Police.

Expressing strong objection to this move, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi is engaging in the politics of anarchy by staging a sit-in at the police station without any prior permission or notice.

Ravi Shankar Prasad clarified that the police have already informed that an FIR regarding the incident in question has already been registered and an investigation is underway. Furthermore, the Supreme Court has also constituted a high-level committee to investigate this matter.

The BJP MP questioned whether Rahul Gandhi has no respect for the laws of the land. He alleged that the Congress party is currently on the back foot regarding its stance on the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ and that these actions are being taken to divert attention from that issue. The BJP has strongly condemned the protest staged by the Congress under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
