Srinagar, J & K : Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, has said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a significant transformation in terms of peace, development and the aspirations of its youth, describing the ongoing changes as an important part of the region’s emerging growth story.

Dr Singh said Jammu and Kashmir possesses vast untapped resources and immense potential across sectors, which, if fully harnessed, can contribute significantly to the Union Territory’s economic growth as well as the country’s broader development goals.

He highlighted the growing opportunities for young people, innovation and entrepreneurship, saying that the changing environment in Jammu and Kashmir is opening new avenues for the youth to participate in the region’s development.

The Union Minister also underlined the potential of the Purple Revolution, particularly in the cultivation and processing of lavender and other aromatic crops, as an emerging success story from Jammu and Kashmir. He said such initiatives can create employment opportunities, promote entrepreneurship and strengthen the rural economy.

Dr Singh emphasised that Jammu and Kashmir’s natural resources scientific potential, young population and emerging economic opportunities can play an important role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

He said the transformation being witnessed in the region is not confined to infrastructure and development projects but also reflects a broader change in the aspirations of the people, particularly the youth, who are increasingly looking towards innovation, entrepreneurship and new economic opportunities.
