New Delhi : Ahead of the Asian Games to be played in Japan from next month, India has received a major setback. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, one of the country’s biggest medal hopes in these games, has been ruled out. Neeraj Chopra will not be able to play in these games due to injury. Neeraj Chopra himself has informed about this through Instagram on Saturday.
Neeraj has said that he will not be able to participate in the Asian Games due to a ligament injury. He has taken this decision after consulting with the doctor and the team.
Chopra had performed well in the Lusa Diamond League which raised a lot of expectations. He had his best throw of the season here. In what Neeraj has posted today, he has talked about injury. He wrote, “After a lot of hard work. After throwing my best throw of the season in Lausanne, I felt like I was getting my rhythm back. Unfortunately, I then suffered a ligament tear in my ankle during training. After talking with my doctor and the team, we have decided that I will be out for the rest of the season.”
He wrote, “It’s disappointing because I felt so close to regaining my rhythm. As the saying goes, some pain is part of the journey. My focus right now is on recovering and coming back strong. Thank you for your love and support.”
