Haldwani : Permission was denied for a silent protest organized to oppose the “shuddhikaran” ritual that took place following Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally scheduled for Sunday evening at the Ramlila Ground. However, Congress workers insist that the event will go ahead regardless.
Indrapal Arya, District President of the Congress Scheduled Caste Department, had sought permission from the administration for the event. However, the request was rejected based on a police report. Congress workers have been directed to hold the event at the city’s designated protest site, Buddha Park.
Meanwhile, the organizer, Arya, stated that the event was intended to be a peaceful gathering conveying a message of equality, social harmony, and brotherhood.
“If we were meant to hold the event at Buddha Park, why would we have sought permission? The BJP has insulted the basic spirit of the Constitution through the ‘purification’ ritual. The administration refused permission only after the CM’s visit. Nevertheless, Congress workers will hold the event at the Ramlila Ground in a democratic and peaceful manner.”
