Major Action Taken Early Morning Following District Judge’s Ruling
Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh : Following a ruling by the District Judge’s court, the mosque located within the Collectorate complex has been demolished using bulldozers. Heavy police forces have been deployed across the city to prevent any untoward incidents. Rumors regarding the demolition had been circulating since the previous night, accompanied by statements from the local MP and councilors on social media.
Vikas Tyagi, a former regional coordinator of the Bajrang Dal, had filed a complaint in March 2025, alleging that the mosque within the Collectorate complex was illegal. He further argued that the complex was being used for commercial purposes, posing a security risk to the Collectorate premises. The matter had been pending in the City Magistrate’s court for a year and a half.
In July, the court declared the mosque illegal. Subsequently, in an order issued three days ago, the District Judge’s court upheld the City Magistrate’s decision.
Rumors that the mosque was being demolished had been circulating since Friday night, prompting councilors and MP Imran Masood to voice their views on social media. Early Saturday morning, the demolition was carried out using six bulldozers. Heavy police forces have been deployed at various locations across the city to avert any untoward incidents.
