New Delhi : China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, stated that China will work together with India under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping to resolve their differences.
This statement comes just hours before the Chinese President’s visit to India for the BRICS summit on Saturday. A bilateral meeting between him and Prime Minister Modi is scheduled during this visit. The Chinese Ambassador also confirmed that arrangements for the meeting between the two leaders are being finalized.
In a post on X on Friday night, Xu wrote, “China and India are arranging a bilateral meeting between President Xi and Prime Minister Modi.” Xi is visiting India after nearly seven years. He departed from Beijing on Saturday for the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi, following an invitation from Prime Minister Modi. The bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Xi is scheduled for 5:45 PM today.
China’s Ambassador to India said, “This will be the third consecutive meeting between the two leaders, following their interactions in Kazan and Tianjin.” He added that China would work with India on multiple fronts, including mutual cooperation and the resolution of differences.
In his post, Xu wrote, “China will work with India to implement the strategic directives of both leaders, handle bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, enhance dialogue, strengthen cooperation, properly resolve differences, and uphold friendship as good neighbors and partners in each other’s success.”
Xi Jinping is visiting India for the first time since the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Since then, India-China relations have improved, and the Chinese President has met Prime Minister Modi in Kazan and Tianjin.
