Udhampur, J & K : Two terrorists were killed in an intelligence based joint counter terror operation launched by security forces in the Brattal area of Udhampur district during the intervening night of September 16 and 17 officials said.
According to the Army the operation codenamed Operation Sohan, was launched after security forces received confirmed inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
Troops of the White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF participated in the operation.
The operation was conducted despite difficult weather conditions, challenging terrain and poor visibility. Security forces engaged the suspected terrorists during the operation resulting in the killing of two terrorists.
The identities and affiliations of the slain terrorists are yet to be officially established. Other reports have indicated that they may have links with the Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad though this has not been officially confirmed by the Army.
Search and surveillance operations remained underway in the area as security forces continued efforts to ensure that there were no other threats in the vicinity.
The operation was being closely monitored by the participating security agencies.
The latest operation comes amid intensified counter terrorism efforts in the forested and difficult to-access areas of the Jammu region following inputs regarding the movement of terrorists.

Despite hostile weather, difficult terrain and poor visibility, troops of WhiteKnightCorps, JmuKmrPolice and CRPF launched a targeted counter-terrorism operation, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists.
The operation is still in progress, with search and surveillance operations continuing in the area. Security forces remain deployed to track and neutralise any remaining threat.
