Kolkata : BSF Director General Parveen Kumar, IPS, reviewed the security arrangements, border management measures and ongoing initiatives along the India Bangladesh border during a two day conference with senior officers of BSF Frontiers deployed along the international boundary.
The conference was held in Kolkata on September 17 and 18, where detailed discussions were conducted on several key issues concerning border management and security.
These included pending land acquisition cases construction of border fencing in identified areas and the challenge of trans border smuggling.
During the conference, the BSF Director General directed officers to accelerate the construction of fencing in identified unfenced stretches of the border.
He also emphasised the need to address issues related to encroachments and the presence of illegal migrants in the border belt.
Reviewing measures to tackle trans border crimes and smuggling, the DG BSF stressed the importance of close coordination and synergy between the BSF other law enforcement agencies and the civil administration.
Referring to the government’s vision of achieving a Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2029, Parveen Kumar emphasised the important responsibility of the BSF in combating the networks involved in drug trafficking and other related criminal activities.
He underlined that sustained, dedicated and coordinated efforts by all concerned agencies would help in disrupting and dismantling criminal networks involved in anti national and anti-social activities, contributing to stronger security along the border.
