Dreams of Flying End in Tragedy : Two Indian Students Die in Canada Crash
A tragic aircraft accident in Saskatchewan, Canada, has claimed the lives of two Indian students from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during flight training. The deceased have been identified as Manoj Sivakumar of Tamil Nadu and Srisaran Thirugnanasambantham of Puducherry, according to the Consulate General of India in Vancouver, which expressed condolences to their families and said assistance was being provided.
Canadian reports said a Cessna 172 operated by Harv’s Air was involved in an overnight cross-country flight from Regina to Steinbach, Manitoba, via Carlyle, Saskatchewan, and was reported overdue after failing to reach its destination. Search-and-rescue teams later located the aircraft near Kisbey, Saskatchewan, at around 6 p.m. local time, with both occupants found dead at the scene. Reports indicate the pilots had rented the aircraft to build flight hours required toward their commercial pilot licences.
The exact circumstances and cause of the crash remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet established what led to the fatal accident. The incident has left the families and the Indian community deeply saddened, as efforts are also being made to assist the families with the necessary formalities and the return of the victims’ remains to India.
