New Delhi: Aadhaar card holders, especially parents and guardians, have an important deadline to keep in mind. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has provided a limited window during which the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children between 5 and 17 years of age can be completed free of charge until September 30, 2026.
Under the Aadhaar system, children are required to update their biometric information at prescribed ages, particularly when they reach 5 years and again at 15 years, as their physical features and biometric details change significantly while they grow. The mandatory update includes important biometric information such as the child’s photograph, fingerprints and iris details, helping ensure that the Aadhaar record continues to accurately represent the individual.
UIDAI has encouraged parents and guardians to complete the required update within the specified free period rather than waiting until the deadline approaches. The process can be completed by visiting an authorised Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, where the child’s biometric information can be updated according to UIDAI requirements.
