New Delhi : Israeli airstrikes continued across Gaza on Thursday despite a US-brokered ceasefire, leaving at least six people dead, according to Al Jazeera, citing Gaza’s Civil Defence agency and local health officials.
Two people were reportedly killed after an Israeli drone struck the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, while four others lost their lives in separate strikes across the territory. Hospitals in Gaza confirmed receiving the bodies of all six victims.
The attacks came as tensions escalated elsewhere in the region. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had launched additional strikes on Iran, saying the operations were aimed at weakening Tehran’s capability to threaten maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz following recent attacks on commercial vessels and civilian crews.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the strikes were carried out under the direction of the US President to safeguard freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it retaliated by firing 10 ballistic missiles at the US Al-Azraq air base in northern Jordan, alleging the base serves as an “enemy command and control centre in West Asia.”
