Razdan Pass Turns Snowy, Gurez Valley Road Connectivity Hit

Bandipora, J & K : Fresh snowfall at Razdan Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet, has disrupted vehicular movement along the 85-kilometre Gurez-Bandipora road in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The snowfall comes amid cold and unsettled weather conditions across the region, affecting traffic on the vital mountain route that connects the remote Gurez Valley with the rest of Bandipora district.

The Gurez-Bandipora road serves as a crucial lifeline for residents of the border valley, providing access to healthcare facilities, educational institutions, markets and other essential services. Any disruption along the route can create difficulties for commuters and affect the transportation of essential supplies.

The fresh spell of snowfall has raised concerns among residents who rely on the road for daily travel and access to essential services, particularly as winter conditions intensify in the higher reaches of north Kashmir.

Travellers have been advised to exercise caution and follow official traffic advisories before planning their journeys. Commuters should avoid travelling on the affected stretch until the road is confirmed safe for vehicular movement by the concerned authorities.

Razdan Pass is known for its challenging terrain and harsh winter conditions, with recurring snowfall often affecting road connectivity to Gurez Valley during the colder months.

Further updates on road conditions and the restoration of normal vehicular movement are awaited.
