Deemed the change of power necessary for democracy : Geniben

Vav-Tharad, Gujarat : During the walk held in Vav-Tharad area of Banaskantha focusing on the issues of farmers, Congress leaders attacked the state government and BJP on various issues. After the statements made on issues like agriculture, animal husbandry, inflation, OBC reservation and change of power, political discussions have intensified across North Gujarat. Banaskantha MP Geniben Thakor and prominent Congress leader Thakarshi Rabari were the main attractions in the program.

In her address, Geniben Thakor said that in a democracy, it is necessary to change power from time to time, because it makes ministers, MLAs and MPs more responsive to the issues of the people. She said that political competition is natural during elections, but after the elections, all parties should work together for the development of the area and the interests of farmers. Giving the example of Rajasthan, she said that although the governments keep changing there, development and social system remain unchanged.

The MP advised farmers to adopt modern and scientific methods along with traditional farming. She said that the amount of land is constantly decreasing, so it is necessary to move towards new technology, crop diversification and horticulture to get more production in less land. She praised the animal husbandry of Banaskantha and said that the district is among the leaders in the country and animal husbandry can become a stronger source of income for farmers. She also demanded that the government provide more relief to farmers, stating that the cost of farming has increased due to the rising prices of diesel, petrol and fertilizers.

During the program, Congress leader Thakarshi Rabari made serious allegations against the government regarding the issues of the OBC community. He claimed that OBC candidates are not getting due justice in the recruitment process. Announcing a statewide fight on this issue, he talked about starting the ‘OBC Bachao Andolan’. He also announced to seek clarification from the government to protect the interests of students and youth.

The political atmosphere in North Gujarat has heated up further after the statements made during the padyatra. The Congress has tried to make its political voice stronger against the government by focusing on issues like farmers’ issues, inflation, OBC reservation and change of power. There is talk that political activities will intensify in the coming days regarding these issues.
