Mumbai : The Annual Anti Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME) 2026 was successfully conducted at Navi Mumbai Airport on September 22 to assess and strengthen preparedness for aviation security contingencies.
The exercise was carried out by the CISF Airport Security Group (ASG), Navi Mumbai, as per the approved contingency plan.
The simulated scenario involved the landing of a hijacked aircraft at Navi Mumbai Airport, prompting a coordinated response by multiple security and emergency agencies.
Personnel from the CISF, Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL), local police, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), Intelligence Bureau (IB), National Security Guard (NSG), airlines, medical services, Air Traffic Control (ATC), Krystal and BOI participated in the exercise.
As part of the drill, the Aerodrome Committee was activated to oversee the coordinated response. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, IPS, and DIG/CASO, ASG Navi Mumbai, Sunit Sharma, along with other concerned members, attended the exercise at the Airport Command and Control Room (ACCR).
The exercise provided an opportunity to assess inter agency coordination, communication and response mechanisms in the event of a hijacking-related emergency.
The successful completion of AHME2026 highlighted the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a high level of preparedness for aviation security contingencies.
