New Delhi : According to RTI replies received by All India Trinamool Congress spokesperson Saket Gokhale from two hospitals, at least 10 people were injured by pellets during the march towards Parliament on July 20.

Lady Hardinge Medical College in the national capital said in its RTI reply that nine people were injured by pellets. Sources in the hospital confirmed the veracity of this reply. Safdarjung Hospital said in its reply that one person was injured by pellets.

Although Delhi Police had earlier denied using pellet guns, the general diary registered at Parliament Street police station on July 22 stated that the Rapid Action Force (RAF) fired two rounds with anti-riot guns.

Those injured by pellets include 25-year-old artist Prashant Kumar Singh, 25-year-old Sheikh Irshad Mansoori, 19-year-old student Sahil Lochab and a journalist. According to medical reports, 32-year-old woman Nutan was injured by a “large weapon”.

“So far, there have been reports of five people being injured by pellets during the protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20,” Gokhale said on Monday (August 10, 2026) along with photos of RTI replies on X. “However, hospital records show that the confirmed number is at least double that, i.e., 10 people.”

He said records from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital are still awaited.

A Trinamool spokesperson asked, “Pellet guns were used against unarmed protesters in the heart of India’s capital, and the government and police are still hiding the information. Why has the Modi government not released the confirmed number of people injured by pellet guns?”

The RTI replies from two hospitals also said that 81 people were brought to Lady Hardinge Medical College after the march, including 46 protesters and 35 police officers. According to the reply from Safdarjung Hospital, 25 police officers and four protesters were brought to the hospital for treatment.
