Gujarat : The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended four Pakistani fishermen and seized their fibre fishing boat in the strategically sensitive Sir Creek area of Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch.

According to preliminary reports, the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs about suspected unauthorised movement in Indian territorial waters. BSF personnel intercepted the fishermen, who allegedly crossed the International Border while venturing into the area to catch crabs.

The four apprehended individuals have been identified as Kadir Thaimor, Muhammad Mussa, Azgar Thaimor and Ahsan Jat. All four are reportedly residents of Pakistan’s Sindh province.

Heightened Vigilance in Sensitive Border Zone

Sir Creek, a 96-kilometre tidal estuary in the Rann of Kutch, lies along the disputed India-Pakistan border and is considered a sensitive security zone. Its marshy terrain, tidal channels and abundant marine resources make the region vulnerable to unauthorised crossings by fishermen.

The BSF maintains heightened surveillance in the area to prevent illegal border crossings and safeguard India’s maritime and territorial security.

Investigation Underway

Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged crossing. Authorities are also expected to examine the seized boat and verify whether any suspicious items or contraband were recovered.

Further action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws following the completion of the necessary security checks and investigation.

The incident once again highlights the security challenges faced by border forces in the difficult and strategically important Sir Creek region.
