Kolkata,West Bengal : One of the accused, Prabash Mondal, has been killed in a police encounter during crime scene reconstruction in the alleged minor rape and murder case.
According to the Superintendent of Police, Baruipur Police District, at around 12:45 am on July 8, the Investigating Officer of Baruipur Police Station along with a police team, took the accused to Suryapur to reconstruct the crime scene.
Police said that just before the reconstruction began, Prabash Mondal allegedly snatched a firearm from a police personnel, fired one round at the team, and attempted to flee. The police retaliated, injuring him.
He was immediately taken to Baruipur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Further legal procedures are underway, the Superintendent of Police, Baruipur Police District, confirmed.
