New Delhi : Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, accusing the Nadia district administration in West Bengal of violating court orders.

In her petition, Moitra alleges that despite a protective order from the High Court, the Nadia district administration forcibly evicted her from her official constituency residence at the Circuit House at 11 PM (midnight).

A request for an urgent hearing and an independent inquiry has been made while raising the matter before a bench led by Justice Surya Kant.

Moitra informed the Supreme Court that local officials evicted her from her constituency residence at midnight, disregarding the protective order issued by the High Court, as reported by Bar & Bench.

As quoted by Bar & Bench, Moitra’s counsel stated, “May I mention an Article 32 petition filed by a female MP who was evicted from her constituency residence at 11 PM by local officials—the Additional District Magistrate and the District Magistrate?

It is our humble submission that comprehensive directions are required in this matter as it involves issues related to federalism. An independent inquiry is also necessary. This incident occurred despite the High Court having already passed a protective order. I am merely requesting that the matter be listed at the earliest, as it involves a significant constitutional issue.”

In response, the Chief Justice said, “We will look into it.”

It is worth noting that earlier this month, TMC MP Mahua Moitra had alleged that the local administration asked her to vacate her room at a Circuit House in Nadia late at night.
