Chandigarh, Punjab : Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken a sharp dig at Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi over the holding of a ‘mock parliament’ at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge. Shah remarked that if Rahul Gandhi aspires to become Prime Minister, he should simply remain in a ‘mock parliament’ for his entire life because, in reality, his turn will never come. Amit Shah stated, “For 15 years, he has been losing election after election. Sonia-ji’s dream of seeing her son become Prime Minister remains unfulfilled. Now, he has come up with a new method: a ‘mock parliament.’

Fair enough I would tell Rahul-ji, if you want to be Prime Minister, just stay in a ‘mock parliament’ for your whole life. Your turn will never come.” While addressing an event for the inauguration and foundation-stone laying of various development projects worth ₹258 crore by the Chandigarh administration, Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress.

Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the rally held in Delhi on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots is akin to rubbing salt into the wounds of the victims. “Rahul Gandhi’s ‘spectacle’ in Delhi on November 1st is like rubbing salt into the wounds of the victims of the anti-Sikh riots,” Shah said. Criticizing the Congress over the riots, he noted that thousands of people were killed during that period.

The Union Home Minister also criticized the opposition ‘INDIA’ alliance for holding a rally at the national capital’s Ramlila Maidan, stating, “They chose to hold their rally on the very day the massacre of Sikhs took place.” The opposition ‘INDIA’ alliance organized a ‘Chalo Delhi’ (Let’s go to Delhi) rally in the national capital as part of their campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging electoral irregularities. The Union Minister remarked that by organizing a rally on such a ‘black day,’ nothing emerged from Rahul Gandhi’s ‘shop of love’ (mohabbat ki dukan) other than hatred.

Shah stated, “If you aspire to become the Prime Minister, then you might as well spend your entire life sitting in a ‘mock parliament’ your turn will never come.” Targeting the opposition, Shah added, “Lying, spreading chaos, and preventing Parliament from functioning this is your very nature.” On Saturday, the ‘INDIA’ alliance conducted a symbolic ‘public impeachment’ against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The alliance accused him of rigging elections by removing voters’ names and demanded that he be prosecuted in court for treason and sent to prison.

The Union Minister recalled that on November 1, 1984, during the anti-Sikh riots, thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered in Delhi. Shah said, “Thousands of Sikhs were burnt alive. Many were forced to abandon their homes, countless children were orphaned, many women were widowed, and numerous homes were set ablaze.” He continued, “The then-Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, made a statement I saw it on television and can never forget it in my lifetime. He (Rajiv Gandhi) remarked that when a big tree falls, the earth shakes.” He added that such a comment, following the massacre of thousands of Sikhs, could only have been made by a Congress leader.
