New Delhi : An Indian-origin senior Google executive was allegedly shot dead by her husband at their residence in the US state of Georgia in what authorities believe is a case of domestic violence. The tragic incident also left the couple’s 23-year-old son injured before he managed to escape and alert neighbours.
The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Sheetal Wrzesien, a senior technology leader at Google with over two decades of experience in the technology industry. According to investigators, her husband, Kirk B. Wrzesien, allegedly shot her inside their home before turning the gun on their son.
Police said the son escaped the attack and ran to nearby homes seeking help, prompting neighbours to call emergency services. Responding officers reached the residence, took the accused into custody at the scene, and launched an investigation.
Authorities have charged Kirk B. Wrzesien with murder, aggravated assault, and multiple firearm-related offences. Investigators said the incident appears to be a case of domestic violence, although the exact motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
Sheetal Wrzesien was a highly accomplished technology professional who graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and built a distinguished career spanning more than 20 years. She served in senior leadership roles at Google and held two software patents, reflecting her significant contributions to the technology sector.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Further details are expected as the probe progresses.
