Anantnag, J & K : The BJP Anantnag unit on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest against alleged remarks attributed to National Conference (NC) MLA Tanvir Sadiq concerning mothers and sisters.
The protest witnessed the participation of BJP J&K UT office-bearers, senior party leaders, constituency presidents and their teams, along with district morcha presidents and their respective teams.
During the demonstration, BJP workers raised slogans against the alleged remarks and expressed their strong disapproval. The protesters also burnt an effigy of Tanvir Sadiq as part of the demonstration and demanded accountability over the remarks attributed to the NC MLA.
BJP workers said that remarks concerning mothers and sisters were unacceptable and called for responsibility and accountability in public discourse. The protesters maintained that elected representatives should exercise restraint while making public statements and ensure that their words do not hurt the sentiments and dignity of women.
The demonstration remained peaceful as BJP leaders and workers reiterated their demand for accountability over the alleged remarks. The protest concluded with the party workers reaffirming their opposition to what they described as objectionable and disrespectful comments.
