Says J&K’s Participation in Vande Mataram Campaign Has Inspired the Nation

Srinagar, J & K : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday called upon people to carry the message of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign beyond displaying the national flag saying its spirit should remain reflected in their thoughts character and everyday actions.

Sinha was speaking at the Tiranga Mahotsav organised at Botanical Garden Srinagar, following the flagging off of a Tiranga Yatra from SKICC. He said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, launched in 2022, has grown into a nationwide expression of patriotism and has strengthened people’s emotional bond with the Tricolour.

He said the sight of the national flag flying over millions of homes represents more than a visual display, describing it as a reflection of the shared pride faith and commitment of Indians towards the nation.

According to the Lieutenant Governor the campaign has developed into a celebration of national consciousness and affection for the motherland bringing citizens closer to the values represented by the Tricolour.

Sinha also highlighted the significance of observing 150 years of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s iconic ‘Vande Mataram’ alongside the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He said while the Tricolour represents the spirit of the nation, ‘Vande Mataram’ continues to symbolise its enduring voice and cultural identity.

He recalled the role played by the patriotic song during the freedom struggle, saying it helped awaken confidence, courage and a sense of self respect among Indians during the period of foreign rule.

Sinha said the 150 year commemoration of ‘Vande Mataram’ should be seen not merely as an occasion to remember a historic song, but as an opportunity to honour the national awakening and the spirit of unity associated with it.

Expressing appreciation for Jammu and Kashmir’s participation in the Vande Mataram campaign the Lieutenant Governor said the enthusiasm displayed by people across the Union Territory had emerged as an inspiration for the country.

He said the participation demonstrated how patriotic sentiment can become part of public consciousness and contribute to shaping a new chapter in history.

Sinha congratulated the youth and citizens of Jammu and Kashmir for helping the Union Territory achieve a leading position in the campaign and urged them to maintain the momentum in its next phase.

He said retaining the top position would require continued collective efforts, adding that the achievement should not be viewed merely as a ranking but as evidence of the strong national spirit among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Sinha, the participation has also conveyed a message that Jammu and Kashmir represents courage, determination and commitment towards the nation.

He said when people from districts including Bandipora, Baramulla, Pulwama, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Jammu and Srinagar come together in support of ‘Vande Mataram’, it strengthens the spirit of the entire country.

The Lieutenant Governor further said the ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiatives should encourage citizens to reflect on their own contribution towards building the India envisioned by freedom fighters, ancestors and soldiers who made immense sacrifices for the country.

He stressed that while earlier generations protected the nation through sacrifice and hardship, the present generation must serve the country through honesty, integrity, commitment, unity and responsible conduct.

Sinha said the two campaigns together represent more than ceremonial activities, describing them as a reflection of a changing Jammu and Kashmir and its aspirations for a progressive future.

He said ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ has become a symbol of a new Jammu and Kashmir that is moving ahead with confidence, development and a strong sense of national commitment.

The Lieutenant Governor said the campaign has also reflected a region where homes are increasingly becoming symbols of patriotic devotion and people’s hearts are connected by the spirit of national unity.

He urged citizens to make a collective pledge that the Tricolour would not remain confined to rooftops but would continue to remain elevated in their values, conduct and responsibilities.

Sinha also called for the ideals associated with ‘Vande Mataram’ to be reflected in people’s decisions, duties and actions.

He urged citizens to honour the sacrifices made for India’s independence by contributing towards the creation of a prosperous, secure and equitable nation where every citizen has access to equal opportunities.

The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for united efforts to build an economically strong Jammu and Kashmir that remains deeply connected with India’s cultural heritage and spiritual traditions.
