New Delhi : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday and discussed a range of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes within two weeks of Sharma’s previous interaction with Amit Shah, highlighting his continued engagement with the Union Home Minister over matters related to Jammu and Kashmir. The discussions covered issues of public importance as well as developments taking place in the Union Territory.
The meeting focused on several important matters, including the security situation, law and order, development-related concerns and issues connected with the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The discussions also covered matters related to governance and the concerns being raised by elected representatives during the current Assembly proceedings.
During the interaction, Sharma apprised the Union Home Minister of various matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed issues emerging from the ground and highlighted public concerns related to development, governance, security and basic requirements. Sharma also stressed the importance of continued attention to the aspirations of the people and the need for coordinated efforts between the Centre and the Union Territory to address pending issues and ensure that development reaches different regions and sections of society.
According to Sharma, Amit Shah reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma said the Home Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and security while continuing development activities across the Union Territory. Sharma further stated that the Union Home Minister assured him of all possible support and cooperation in addressing issues of importance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
