Kutch, Gujarat : An archaeological discovery from the vast Rann of Kutch has sparked a new debate about the ancient history of the country, including Gujarat. Researchers from the University of Kutch have found more than 100 human skeletons, ancient pottery, terracotta toys and construction remains in the Rann area. Preliminary studies have suggested that the site is likely to be approximately 1000 to 1500 years old.
Dr. Gaurav Chauhan, in-charge of the Geoscience Department of the University of Kutch, conducted a scientific survey of the site. It has been revealed that the human skeletons found were systematically buried in the same direction, which can provide important information about the social and religious traditions of that time.
The important thing is that the information about this place was first received by the BSF jawans during patrolling. After that, the place was studied by the university team. According to the preliminary findings, it is being expressed that this place is likely to be related to the Dholavira and the later period of the Indus Valley Civilization.
Now, preparations are being made to conduct scientific studies including carbon dating, DNA testing to unravel the mystery of this place. For this, there is a possibility of joint research with institutions including Oxford University, Deccan College, ISRO, PRL.
If the preliminary findings are supported in the scientific tests, then a new and important chapter can be added to the ancient history of Kutch.
