Anantnag, J & K : A non-local labourer was killed while another sustained critical injuries after terrorists opened fire on two brick kiln workers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, officials said.

The incident occurred in the Kelam area of Kulgam, where unidentified terrorists targeted the two workers employed at a local brick kiln. Both suffered serious gunshot injuries in the attack.
Officials said one of the victims, Deepak Kumar Ratray (24), a resident of Chhattisgarh, succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The second injured worker, Bhupinder Dasrat (28), also from Chhattisgarh, was initially admitted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag before being referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, for specialised treatment. His condition is stated to be critical.

Following the attack, police and security forces reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and launched an extensive search operation to trace those responsible. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
