Chandigarh : An important meeting was held in Chandigarh on Saturday with the government committee constituted in connection with the Guru Granth Sahib Respect Act 2026 with discussions focusing on objections raised by Sri Akal Takht Sahib over certain provisions of the legislation.

The government said the concerns raised by Sri Akal Takht Sahib would be addressed at the earliest and that efforts would be made to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue.

According to the government, its team will soon hold a meeting with the committee constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to amicably discuss and resolve the issues related to the Act.

The government maintained that the objective would be to preserve the core spirit and purpose of the legislation, while ensuring that the concerns of the Sikh religious institution and the sentiments of the community are duly respected.

The government also reiterated its commitment to maintaining the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and respecting the religious sentiments of the Sikh congregation while taking the matter forward.
