New Delhi : The BJP launched a fierce attack on the Congress and the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) on Wednesday. During a press conference, BJP MP Sambit Patra targeted the Congress party regarding its upcoming event at Ramlila Maidan, scheduled for November 1. He also drew a parallel between Rajiv Gandhi’s infamous remark “When a big tree falls, the earth shakes” and the concept of ‘regime change,’ while levelling several allegations against the Congress.

Referring to the Delhi High Court’s observations regarding CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das, Sambit Patra asserted that the Tricolour does not grant one a legal licence to engage in anarchy.

“Certain individuals attempted to propagate a narrative across the country, misleading the public by claiming they were detained merely for hoisting the Tricolour. However, today, during the hearing on the judicial custody of Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das, the Delhi High Court exposed the truth,” Patra stated.

He explained that the court clarified that their judicial custody was not a result of their desire to hoist the Tricolour, but rather due to their violation of the terms of a ‘peace bond.’

“When they were first detained, they signed a peace bond, undertaking that upon their release, they would not engage in any activity that could disrupt the nation’s peace. Yet, within hours of their release, they violated that very agreement,” he said.

Patra further noted that when the Delhi High Court asked for their ages, one individual stated he was 27, while the other said he was 31. In response, the court remarked, “You are not Gen-Z.” Patra stated that while the issue may have changed, the people involved remain the same suggesting that this movement is sponsored by a single group, following a carefully orchestrated agenda.

Referring to a warning issued by the court, he noted that if the organizers lose control, the protests could escalate into arson, looting, and vandalism.

He asserted, “India’s national flag does not grant you the legal license to spread anarchy across the country under its cover.”

Sambit Patra also launched a sharp attack on the Congress party. He alleged that in 1984, individuals like Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar possessed electoral rolls; they used these lists to identify the homes of Sikhs, inciting others to kill them by placing burning tires around their necks.

He remarked, “You claim that November 1, 2026, will be a day to ‘save democracy.’ Go ahead and hold your event at Ramlila Maidan. The nation is watching; our Sikh brothers are watching. Punjab will provide an answer, and all of India will provide an answer.”

Citing a statement made by Rajiv Gandhi in 1984 “When a big tree falls, the earth shakes” Patra argued that the Congress party’s current strategy appears to be an attempt to “shake the earth” once again by “felling a big tree.” In this context, “felling a big tree” implies a “regime change,” while the “shaking of the earth” signifies the suffering and destabilization of Mother India.

He declared, “The idea that a ‘big tree will fall and the earth will shake’ will not come to pass in India. That was the era of the Congress; today, we live in the era of a Prime Minister who has pledged: ‘I will not let the nation bow, nor will I let it be destroyed.'”

He concluded by saying, “We must stand united to fight against all those who are attempting to orchestrate a regime change in India.” They are trying to replicate what they see in Europe. But this is India this is the land of Lord Jagannath.
