Always prioritized the welfare of farmers: PM Modi

Banaskantha, Gujarat : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹14,000 crore in Banaskantha, Gujarat. Addressing the gathering, he stated that rumors were spread during the time of the war involving Iran. Farmers were frightened regarding the availability of fertilizers, and women were led to believe that they would no longer receive cooking gas. The objective behind this was to incite chaos in the country, with the ultimate aim of defaming Modi.

PM Modi further remarked, “I want to remind the farmers of this nation that I had promised that Modi would stand firmly by your side. Even though the war continues, Modi has ensured that there is no shortage of fertilizers. Globally, the war has led to severe shortages and a sharp rise in costs; however, the government has ensured that this burden does not fall upon the farmers. A bag of fertilizer that costs ₹3,000 elsewhere in the world is available in India for less than ₹300. Similarly, while the price of a bag of DAP fertilizer has exceeded ₹5,000 globally, it is available in India for just ₹1,350.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that under the latest installment of the ‘PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi’ scheme, over ₹18,000 crore has been transferred directly into the bank accounts of approximately 10 crore farmers across the country. He emphasized that the government remains consistently focused on the welfare of farmers and the development of the agricultural sector. “Our government has always prioritized the well-being of farmers and worked to empower them.

Despite the massive surge in fertilizer prices amidst global uncertainties, our government has ensured that the burden is not passed on to the farmers,” he said. Addressing a public meeting in Banaskantha, Gujarat, Modi stated that this installment has benefited over 5 million (50 lakh) farmers in Gujarat. More than 1,000 crore rupees have been deposited into their accounts. In Banaskantha alone, approximately 50 crore rupees have reached the accounts of hundreds of thousands of farming families.

Noting that the attendees were seated on traditional cots (charpais), the Prime Minister remarked that Banaskantha has revived the traditions of rural life. He said, “It might come as a surprise to people across the country to see everyone at this event seated on charpais. Banaskantha has breathed new life into the traditions of our villages. If the Guinness World Records were informed about this, they would surely recognize it as a world record.”
