Gulmarg J & K : The national flag was ceremonially hoisted at an altitude of nearly 14,000 feet in Gulmarg on Thursday as part of special Independence Day celebrations at the renowned tourist destination.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla S.F. Hamid led the flag-hoisting ceremony in the presence of SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, CEO Gulmarg Development Authority Tariq Hussain, SDM Gulmarg, Tehsildar Tangmarg Syed Eyad Qadri, SDPO Gulmarg Faizan Ali, and other senior civil and police officials. Army personnel and police officers were also present.

The Tricolour was unfurled with due honour, followed by a ceremonial salute to the Deputy Commissioner.

Adding a new attraction to this year’s celebrations, authorities organised the first-ever Tiranga Pony Rally from Gulmarg to Gulmarg First Phase. Nearly 100 horses and ponies participated, each carrying the national flag. Senior civil and police officers also joined the rally.

The unique initiative added a distinct patriotic flavour to the Independence Day celebrations and highlighted Gulmarg’s role as a major tourist destination.
