Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi Flags Off Grand ‘Damru Yatra’ and Heritage Auto-Rickshaw Service

Vadnagar, Gujarat : An extraordinary blend of devotion, spirituality and culture came alive in historic Vadnagar early this morning. The ‘Vadnagar Shravanotsav’, organised by the Government of Gujarat, began today from the banks of historic Sharmishtha Lake. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi formally inaugurated the festival, adding to Vadnagar’s cultural spirit. He also played the damru and flagged off the grand ‘Damru Yatra’, the festival’s main attraction, creating a vibrant and devotional atmosphere.
Reflecting Vadnagar’s rich heritage and devotion to Lord Shiva, 108 talented artists performed together on damrus during the Damru Yatra. The sound of 108 damrus filled the town with the spirit of devotion to Shiva and created great excitement among the gathering and residents. Lauding this unique cultural event, the DyCM said that Vadnagar’s Shravanotsav is creating a new identity on the global stage by bringing devotion and art together.

The grand Damru Yatra connected Vadnagar’s historic and religious sites through a shared spirit of devotion. Starting from Sharmishtha Lake, the yatra passed through Arjun Bari, Bhagatna Galla, Juna Chachara, Shri Swaminarayan Temple and Gopalji Temple, before concluding at the renowned Shru Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Residents warmly welcomed the yatra along the route, as the beats of the damrus resonated through the town, showcasing Vadnagar’s rich heritage and deep-rooted faith.

DyCM participated in the entire yatra, encouraging and energising the citizens. As the yatra concluded, he offered prayers and performed puja at Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Vadnagar. He also distributed prasad and Shiv Kits among the devotees.
Following the religious programmes, DyCM launched the ‘Vadnagar Heritage Auto-Rickshaw’ service to promote tourism in Vadnagar. He also took a ride in the heritage auto-rickshaw. Later, he reviewed various development works in Vadnagar with senior officials.

On this occasion, District Panchayat President Nitin Patel, leader Girish Rajgor, Unjha MLA Kirit Patel, Mehsana MLA Mukesh Patel, Kheralu MLA Sardar Chaudhari and Vadnagar Municipality President Smt. Mitika Shah were present at the dignified event. Besides, prominent leaders including Shubham Shah and Kamal, senior officials Rajkumar Beniwal and Kuldeep Arya, District Collector Smt. Shalini Duhan, along with senior officials and a large number of citizens.
