Strict action on more than five violations in a year, updating mobile number mandatory
Gandhinagar, Gujarat : Another important decision has been taken by the state government to ensure compliance with traffic rules and promote safe driving in Gujarat. The implementation of the ‘Next Generation Challan System’ has been started in the state from 12 August 2026. Under this new system, a stricter stance will now be taken against motorists who violate traffic rules.
According to the new system, now it is mandatory for a person who breaks traffic rules to pay the fine amount within 45 days of receiving the challan. If the motorist does not pay the fine amount within the stipulated period, strict action will be taken by the government. The most serious thing is that the driving license of a person who does not pay the fine on time can be cancelled. This will increase awareness among the people about traffic rules and the rules will be followed.
In this new system, a special watch will be kept on ‘premium’ type of violations. If a driver violates traffic rules five or more times during a year, strict legal action will be taken against him. This is a big warning for those who break the rules repeatedly, because now your driving history will be digitally protected on the government server.
This new e-challan system is completely technology-based. Therefore, it is very important for every driver to keep his mobile number updated in the RTO record. All types of e-challans, fine notices and warnings will now be sent to the registered mobile number only. If your mobile number is old or switched off, you will not be able to get the e-challan information on time, due to which you may miss the deadline for paying the fine and get into trouble.
The main objective of this system is to reduce accidents on the roads of Gujarat and maintain traffic discipline. All citizens are appealed to check their mobile number on the RTO portal and get it updated immediately if necessary.
