Pulwama, J & K : Security forces have apprehended two suspected terrorist associates and recovered a pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade during a joint operation in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath, Rajpora, Pulwama, officials said.

A senior official said that the operation was jointly conducted by Police, 44 Rashtriya Rifles of the Army and 183 Battalion CRPF in the Yarwan forest area. During the operation, the forces apprehended two individuals and recovered a pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade from their possession.

According to the official, the operation was launched following coordinated intelligence inputs regarding suspected terror-related activities in the area. During the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO), the joint teams noticed two individuals coming out of the forest towards CB Nath village under suspicious circumstances. The teams immediately moved in and detained them.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad, son of Gh. Mohammad Deedad, resident of Lassi Daban, and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmad Bajad, resident of Bun Kha Bamnoo.

During their search, the security forces recovered one pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade. Both suspects, along with the recovered arms and ammunition, were taken into custody, the official said.

A case has been registered at Police Station Rajpora vide FIR No. 118/2026 under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Further investigation is underway to establish the activities of the apprehended individuals, determine the source of the recovered weapons and ammunition, and identify their possible links and associates, the official said.

The operation is being described as a significant success in the efforts of Pulwama Police and security forces to disrupt terror networks, prevent terror-related activities and maintain security in the district.
