Rajouri, J & K : The Indian Army has foiled a suspected infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, officials said on Friday.

According to Army sources, troops detected suspicious movement near one of the forward positions in the Rumlidhara area during the night. The movement was challenged by the soldiers, following which the suspected infiltrator took cover in the darkness and dense foliage.

The suspect reportedly opened fire at the Army personnel, triggering an exchange of fire. Troops responded and launched a search operation to track down the suspected infiltrator.

Sources said a large number of rounds were fired during the exchange, while the possibility of additional infiltrators in the area has not been ruled out.

Search operations were intensified with the first light of Friday morning, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance across the area. Senior Army officers are monitoring the operation, while further details are awaited as the search continues.

The operation is being carried out amid heightened security along the LoC to prevent any attempt by armed infiltrators to cross into the Indian side.
