Tashkend : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on Saturday for the first leg of his two-nation tour. He was accorded a very warm welcome at the airport. This marks PM Modi’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan.

During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold delegation-level talks with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two leaders will review the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan, as well as cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties.

Before departing for the visit, PM Modi stated, “Significant progress has been made in the strategic relations between the two countries in recent years. I look forward to discussing with President Mirziyoyev ways to enhance cooperation in trade, digital connectivity, defense, and energy sectors, and to advance the shared vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Yangi Uzbekistan’ (New Uzbekistan).”

During his stay in Tashkent, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Shastri Memorial to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Additionally, he will visit the Mahatma Gandhi Centre located at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

After Tashkent, Prime Minister Modi will depart for Bishkek at the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov. There, he will participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. This summit is being held to mark the historic occasion of the SCO completing 25 years of its existence.
