The national leadership has removed the in-charge Mukul Wasnik, who has proven to be inactive, and appointed aggressive leader Randeep Singh Surjewala in his place. According to sources, the high command and especially Rahul Gandhi were very upset with the working style of the former in-charge Mukul Wasnik. Wasnik used to come to Gujarat only for formal visits. Due to his policy of ‘coming by 2 pm flight and returning to Delhi by 7 pm flight’, the organization had completely collapsed at the ground level. The positive atmosphere that had emerged after Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ was also cooled by the inactivity of local leaders. As a result, the Congress faced a crushing defeat in the local body elections.
An internal report by Congress election strategist Sunil Kanugolu has made shocking revelations. The report has made it clear that leaders who have no influence on the ground were given a place in the committees formed for the local body elections. The discussion that Mukul Wasnik was the victim of giving importance to passive leaders instead of active and hardworking workers has intensified in political circles. After this report, it is almost certain that the high command will make a political surgical strike and send co-in-charges Suhasini Yadav and Ramkishan Ojha away from the organization. Apart from this, a strategy has been formulated to gradually sideline senior leaders who have indirect links with the BJP.
It is not an easy task for the new in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala to win the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat or to settle the organization. However, the party has started new and aggressive preparations.
